Stained Glass

   Focuses on the creation of unique works of art in paintings, pastels, charcoal, and stained glass pieces as well as mixed media

Steelman Studios and Stain Glass in The Cotton Company             Jane Steelman worked toward a degree in art at Appalachian State University . From that time, she has worked in pottery , drawings stained glass, painting and jewelry making.  

          Displayed in The Cotton Company, you will see the stained glass pieces as well as paintings and prints of mixed media art. 

       Jane has also worked in the field of education for 30 years. 


ARTIST'S STATEMENT 

I have taken a journey from a child artist to college art major to practicing artist for the joy of the experience. It has taken me a lifetime to discover that what is good for the soul is the greatest balance in my life . 

As an educator, children and their expressions have intrigued me. As the mother of an avid animal lover I too have come to appreciate all animals or maybe it is the other way around. 

    As an artist, I have wandered through life's journey trying to find my media and the expression of true self. I have expressed myself through charcoal, silver, glass and paint.

My favorite quote is one by George Eliot, "Its never too late to be what you might have been." 
Everyone has a story . Every place tells a story . I hope to tell my story through my art.
